First of all: great to see all the positive response after releasing section one of the course, thanks all!
You’re probably already making progress in the course, great job! Now that you’re knowledge of the problem is progressing, it’s time we start looking for solutions.
The most important place for you to have your digital privacy, are your private messages. You’re probably using WhatsApp right now to share everything with your loved ones. Ever since WhatsApp has been taken over by Facebook, we simply can’t trust WhatsApp anymore for maintaining our privacy. More on this in the topic ‘Why Google and Facebook don’t give a damn about your privacy.‘
As promised, this mail is about solutions. And so I introduce to you: Signal! The most privacy-friendly messaging app that’s around nowadays. Not only to me, but also according to whistleblower Edward Snowden and cryptographer Bruce Schneier!
In this video we’ll break down:
– Why Signal is a great privacy choice
– How to set-up your Signal account
– How to set-up your Signal settings for optimal privacy
– How to send self destroying messages and pictures
Let us know if you have any questions regarding the video. Two more tips that we didn’t discuss in the video:
Really informative thanks 🙂
Yes that’s good information. Keep up the good work guys.
Hope I can get my friends to use Signal.. thanks!
Hey dude, use the Threema app, then don’t have to worry about any privacy problem. (period)
I have no problem with paying for software, but because Threema is paid it is difficult to get your friends to use it. Next to that, Signal is already being used by way more people. That makes it less of a hassle to get your friends to switch (given they can see that others in their contact list already made the switch).
What do you think of Telegram Privacy? Is it better than signal or not?
I love Telegram for it’s functionality. But although Telegram is not owned by Facebook (huge plus), it’s not a good option for privacy for mostly two reasons:
– Telegram does not encrypt messages by default, you have to enable this yourself
– Telegrams servers are not open source
Hi, Thanks for info
Session is also very promising with no meta data / no mobile number, what are your thoughts?
