I don't have any technical knowledge, can I still enroll in this course?
Yes, you can. We believe privacy is a basic human right that should be available to anyone. We made this course so that even our grandmothers could be following it!
When I DeGoogle my phone, will I still be able to use my favorite apps?
You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.
I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?
The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

I want to buy a new but affordable phone to DeGoogle it, which one should I get?
We at Android-Privacy.com we like the Xiaomi Redmi note 8/9, because of it’s great specs for a really low price. This low price mostly comes from all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on it, but we are going to get rid of that anyway 😉
I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?
No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).
How long is section 3?
Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.
How much time do I save?

Na een lange aanloopfase door eigen uitstelgedrag nu echt superblij!
Omdat ik enorm achter de ‘filosofie’ van Proprivacy sta, hab ik afscheid genomen van m’n jarenlange ervaring met de i-phone. Dat was even wennen, ik was verre van meteen bevriend met m’n nieuwe aanwinst. Dankzij prima geschreven handleidingen en snelle reactie op m’n vragen via de mail kwam ik een heel eind, maar toch (en dat ligt aan mij!) was ik er nog niet helemaal in thuis. Toen heb ik een Pro Privacy consult afgesproken. Daarin werd enorm veel uitgelegd en aangepast in de indeling van de mappen werk-persoonlijk, kreeg ik diverse nieuwe privacy-veilige apps erop, werden diverse praktische hobbels opgelost enz. enz. En nu ben ik BLIJ! Er is oneindig veel mogelijk, alleen moet je het even weten/ er de tijd voor nemen. Door de geweldige support van Proprivacy (mail, telefonisch) en met alle handleidingen en nieuwsbrieven met info over updates e.d. zou ik iedereen aanraden om over te stappen!

Wat een opluchting!
Het is best al lang bekend dat apple en google ons bespioneren en dat voelt niet prettig bij het gebruik van hun tech. Toch vond ik overstappen moeilijk, van de iphone waar ik al heel lang aan gewend ben, naar een android. De video’s en het Privacy Platform hebben geholpen om wegwijs te worden in de basics, maar wat mij echt heeft ‘overgezet’ is het persoonlijke consult bij Ernad, waar ik al mijn vragen kon stellen en meteen opgelost kreeg. Aanrader!
Super blij van IPhone over naar GrapheneOS
Ik had er lang over na gedacht en heb verschillende opties overwogen. Ik ben heel blij met deze keuze. Het is wel een heel groot verschil met mijn Iphone, geen plug & play. Met de instructies op het platform is zeker heel goed te doen. Wat mij heeft geholpen om rustig aan stap voor stap de basis instellingen te doen, dit lukt je in 1 á 2 uurtjes. De rest heb ik in de loop van de week beetje bij beetje gedaan, langzaam aan begin je dan te begrijpen hoe je telefoon/privacy werkt. De eerste week ook nog mijn Iphone bij me gehad voor het geval je iets nodig hebt wat je nog niet op je nieuwe telefoon hebt, zo als een parkeer app!
Echt een aanrader als je je privacy waardeert.

Als digibeet was het een hele drempel om de stap naar deze telefoon te maken. Heb hem een jaar laten liggen. Toen de jongens van Pro Privacy gemaild en voor een zeer schappelijk prijsje bij hen op kantoor 1 op 1 een uitstekende introductie en opstart hulp gehad. Had ik dat maar eerder gedaan. Nu ben ik er mee vertrouwd aan het worden. Komt helemaal goed. Echte toppers.
