The first part of the course is focusing on the violation of our privacy and the definition of privacy itself. Why would you even want or need it? Is it even possible to maintain your privacy in today’s day and age? Later on the course we will focus on solutions, without the need to go and buy a new phone. I don't have any technical knowledge, can I still enroll in this course?
Yes, you can. We believe privacy is a basic human right that should be available to anyone. We made this course so that even our grandmothers could be following it!
When I DeGoogle my phone, will I still be able to use my favorite apps?
You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.
I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?
The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?
No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).
How long is section 3?
Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.
How much time do I save?

Geweldige telefoon en service
Ikzelf heb nu de Pixel 9a (updates tot 2031 ongeveer) met graphene OS en ben erg happy ermee. Afgelopen vrijdag 19 sept. op kantoor geweest bij Wesley en Ernad, die me weer een stuk op weg geholpen hebben. Gebruiksvriendelijke telefoon gebaseerd op Android. Een hoop informatie vind je op het Proprivacy Platform op www.proprivacy.io Kijk vooral op Tips en Tricks. Er gaat een hele nieuwe wereld voor je open met deze telefoon.
Laptop
Ik had een afspraak gemaakt, omdat ik niet in de laptop kwam omdat de wachtwoorden niet goed ingevuld waren. Het viel reuze mee, wat er aan de hand was. En goede uitleg gekregen en nog wat tijd om vragen te stellen over mijn telefoon.
Uitstekende service
Uitstekende uitleg gekregen over onze nieuwe laptop en het gebruik van Linux. Het programma is zeer gebruikersvriendelijk. Zelfs voor een stel digibeten zoals wij erg makkelijk in het gebruik. We willen beide heren bedanken voor de uitstekende service en de heldere uitleg.

Ik had eerst Linux mint wat mij tot wanhoop dreef, zeker zonder uitleg. Daarom had ik wel even tijd nodig voordat ik de moed en het vertrouwen had om weer een Linux versie te gaan gebruiken. Ik had echt niet kunnen dromen dat dit zo’n verschil zou maken met Linux mint. En de uitstekende uitleg van Ernad en de duidelijke handleiding hebben daar zeker toe bij gedragen. Ik was al gewend aan Mullvad VPN en browser, dat scheelde ook en ik heb alles weer kunnen instellen zoals ik het gewend was bij Windows. Mijn laptop kon worden omgebouwd, ook een voordeel. Ik ben dolblij dat ik van Windows af ben en gelukkig met Fedora! Ik kan het iedereen aanraden!

Vind het allemaal erg spannend, die nieuwe systemen, dus ik heb nu eerst mijn laptop laten ombouwen. Ze waren erg geduldig en creatief en duidelijk ingaand op mijn vragen en wensen.
Begin er steeds meer aan te wennen en blij met de vernieuwde privacy. Dit was een belangrijke eerste stap.
