Welcome to the Android privacy course! In this course we will teach you everything about creating the best possible privacy setup on your Android device. Not only do we endorse privacy, but this course is build around a couple of key values: privacy, open-source software, freedom of speech, and if possible: decentralization.

The first part of the course is focusing on the violation of our privacy and the definition of privacy itself. Why would you even want or need it? Is it even possible to maintain your privacy in today’s day and age? Later on the course we will focus on solutions, without the need to go and buy a new phone. It’s even better: your phone will feel like it’s brand new! Better privacy also means more battery life. Gone with all the bloatware and tracking! I don't have any technical knowledge, can I still enroll in this course?

Yes, you can. We believe privacy is a basic human right that should be available to anyone. We made this course so that even our grandmothers could be following it!

When I DeGoogle my phone, will I still be able to use my favorite apps?

You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.

I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?

The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

We at Android-Privacy.com we like the Xiaomi Redmi note 8/9, because of it’s great specs for a really low price. This low price mostly comes from all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on it, but we are going to get rid of that anyway 😉

I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?

No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).

How long is section 3?

Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.

How much time do I save?

Figuring all of this out on your own will probably cost you weeks. That’s why we created this course, so you can have digital privacy without the need to do all the research!

De uitleg is voor mij als leek niet zo dat ik de stap aandurf. Ik voel me nog steeds onzeker en ben bang dat de risico’s te groot zijn. Bij de 16 woorden en Engels, staat er als keuze “save” of ergens opschrijven en bewaren. Moet je dit papiertje altijd bij je hebben als je Monero wilt kopen? Jullie service is prima; het ligt gewoon aan mij als leek. Het is zo technisch! Ik ga alles nog een keer doornemen, want ik wil de tweede cursus ook doen. Uiteraard eerst begrijpen waar ik mee bezig ben, haha.

ik moet eerlijk zijn en toegeven dat mij Proprivacy telefoon nog steeds ingepakt ligt. ik ben echt een complete digibeet. had hiervoor enkel een klein nokia. ken dus niet de voordelen van de smartphone…

ik weet echt niet eens hoe ik hem kan aanzetten, weet niet of en hoe op te laden enz en zou graag eens een afspraak maken met iemand van jullie, maar met mijn 75 j ben ik niet meer zo happy om helemaal naar Nederland te komen.

en omdat ik ook ziek geweest ben , ben ik er nog niet toe gekomen om een of ander filmpje te bekijken.

maar teveel termen /woorden begrijp ik zelfs niet, zoals bv in jullie laatste bericht wat is “randomization-ftie “of “een goede VPN-dienst draaien” zoveel termen die ik echt niet begrijp, terwijl ik echt niet dom ben, enkel niet mee met deze evolutie.een goede persoonlijke hulp zou welkom zijn, imel

Om eerlijk te zijn, mijn mooie Snowden ligt nog in zijn doosje, ik gebruik nog altijd een gewone gsm, omdat ik geen kennis heb van technische zaken en bang ben iets verkeerd te doen. Moest de gelegenheid bestaan om eens samen te komen met gelijkgestemden zou ik daarop ingaan. Ik heb in elk geval een groot vertrouwen in jullie uitgebreide kennis en ben dankbaar voor jullie sociale bewogenheid .

Doet wat moet en belangrijk is.

Het heeft mij geholpen om geen overbodige Apps meer te installeren.

Even wennen, maar top

Ik ben ICT-er dus het was voor mij niet echt moeilijk om deze telefoon in gebruik te nemen. De video’s van Wesley zijn voor mij erg duidelijk. Het was alleen wel even wennen dat zaken net even anders werken dan op een Samsung. Zo heb je met een Samsung in internet een back button in internet. Op deze telefoon moet je swipen om terug te gaan. Duurde even voordat ik dat zag. Ik heb besloten WhatsApp er niet meer op te zetten. Ze moeten me maar appen met Signal.

Het aan- en uitzetten van de microfoon als je gaat bellen went snel. Ik moet alleen omsand nog uitvogelen, want heb er nog niet echt routes mee kunnen plannen (maar hier zijn twee video’s over gemaakt dor Wesley heb ik gezien).
