I don't have any technical knowledge, can I still enroll in this course?

Yes, you can. We believe privacy is a basic human right that should be available to anyone. We made this course so that even our grandmothers could be following it!

When I DeGoogle my phone, will I still be able to use my favorite apps?

You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.

I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?

The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

Can I get a refund?

I want to buy a new but affordable phone to DeGoogle it, which one should I get?

We at Android-Privacy.com we like the Xiaomi Redmi note 8/9, because of it’s great specs for a really low price. This low price mostly comes from all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on it, but we are going to get rid of that anyway 😉

I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?

No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).

How long is section 3?

Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.

How much time do I save?

Figuring all of this out on your own will probably cost you weeks. That’s why we created this course, so you can have digital privacy without the need to do all the research!

Heel fijn dat mijn laptop omgezet is naar Linux. Weer super goed geholpen door Ernad, alle vragen weer beantwoord en hij is super behulpzaam. Fijn ook om met gelijkgestemden te babbelen. Alleen vergeten hoe ik Skylo (e-sim) van mijn proprivacy telefoon krijg, misschien kom je er nog even op terug. Goed dat jullie er zijn. Keep Safe and footprint free, nogmaals Dank.

De overgang van mijn oude telefoon naar deze telefoon ( die ik zelf heb aangeschaft, met hulp van Ernad) was voor mij moeilijker dan die van Windows naar Linux. Maar dank zij de uitgebreide uitleg en hulp van Ernad zit ik er nu steeds beter in. En met de handleiding op de website die zeer duidelijk is, gaat het zeker helemaal lukken. Ernad beschikt over een engelen geduld waardoor het ook makkelijk is om vragen te stellen, zelfs als je zelf een fout hebt gemaakt. Iets wat ik al met Ernad heb besproken, is dat de meeste printers meestal niet compatibel is; het zou fijn zijn als daar een oplossing voor zou kunnen worden gevonden.

Als ik een tip zou willen geven : lees eerst de handleiding alvorens je de mondelinge toelichting krijgt. In mijn geval wist ik niet dat hij er was en waar te vinden en ik denk dat dit te maken had met het feit dat ik geen nieuwe telefoon bij Wesley had gekocht. Dan krijg je hem er automatisch bij. Nu ik bezig ben met het door te lezen ervan, wordt er veel duidelijk en volg ik het advies van Ernad om het meerdere keren te lezen en vooral toe te passen en te oefenen indien nodig op je telefoon. Voor mij was de schikbarende inbreuk op je privacy vanuit de overheid, NCTV en aanverwanten de enige reden om van telefoon te veranderen. Dat er gelukkig een bedrijf is dat hier technisch gezien paal en perk aan stelt door elke ontwikkeling op de voet te volgen en daar meteen op in te springen, is echt geweldig. Ik ben ze zeer dankbaar en wens Wesley en Ernad dan ook alle succes toe! Ook de podcast met David Broerstra draagt hier veel aan bij. De zekerheid van blijvende hulp , als je een probleem of een vraag hebben, maakt het bedrag wat je ervoor moet betalen , dubbel en dwars waard.

Ondanks dat t even vreemd liep door verandering van locatie om bepaalde redenen, ben ik nu nog aan t bijkomen van de gewéldige kennis van Ernad! Buitennatuurlijk is hij zeer sociaal, tactvol, communicatief subliem en een prettig mens in de omgang… Ik ben er nog van aan t indalen….ik ben héél blij én ik ben zelfs beetje emo daardoor… Heel hartelijk dank…ik moet nog een hoop leren maar t inzicht is er dóór Ernad

Deze week een Windows-notebook om laten bouwen naar ProPrivacy-normen.

Goede, vriendelijke ontvangst. Binnen 1,5 uur had Ernad alles wat nodig is op de laptop gezet. Heel fijn.
