I don't have any technical knowledge, can I still enroll in this course?

Yes, you can. We believe privacy is a basic human right that should be available to anyone. We made this course so that even our grandmothers could be following it!

When I DeGoogle my phone, will I still be able to use my favorite apps?

You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.

I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?

The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

I want to buy a new but affordable phone to DeGoogle it, which one should I get?

We at Android-Privacy.com we like the Xiaomi Redmi note 8/9, because of it’s great specs for a really low price. This low price mostly comes from all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on it, but we are going to get rid of that anyway 😉

I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?

No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).

How long is section 3?

Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.

How much time do I save?

Figuring all of this out on your own will probably cost you weeks. That’s why we created this course, so you can have digital privacy without the need to do all the research!

Beste mensen van Proprivacy.

Alhoewel ik jullie mails etc krijg, ben ik niet de eigenares van de telefoon. Wij hebben deze aan onze zus Theresia kado gedaan. Beste, eigenlijk is het beschamend dat ik nog steeds de telefoon niet heb overgezet. Privacy is het allerhoogste goed. Echter omdat ik digitaal zeer weinig achtergrond heb, heb ik hulp nodig en durfde het niet aan om alleen dit te doen. OP dit moment heb ik prive even ‘heel veel tabbladen’ openstaan.

Zodra ik meer hier over kan zeggen, bericht ik terug.

Ik was al een tijdje bezig mijn privacy te verbeteren. VPN, een browser gebruiken die geen informatie verzamelt en doorstuurt maar ik had wel een Google smartphone. Die kwam gewoon als beste uit de test, maar wel Google, dus Big Brother #1.

Op Youtube, ook weer Google, kwam ik een filmpje tegen over De-Googled telefoons, vandaar kwam ik weer bij Graphene OS. Al die filmpjes een aantal keer bekeken en zoveel als er was gelezen en een afspraak gemaakt. Om laten zetten naar Graphene en meteen een uitleggesprek gehad.

Het omzetten ging vlot en de uitleg was ook prima.

Mijn telefoon is sneller omdat er geen bloatware meer op staat en de schillen geven me een enorm gevoel van controle.

Feitelijk heb ik nu 3 identiteiten op 1 toestel en kan ik kiezen welke identiteit ik gebruik voor welke actie/website/app.

Erg fijn, zo heb ik alles wat met elektronisch betalingsverkeer te maken heeft in een aparte schil staan, met vpn. Super.

4 sterren ipv 5 vanwege stom geklungel ter plaatsen wat me even op het verkeerde been zette.

Geen makkelijke telefoon, maar wel goede service

Het is niet eenvoudig alle ins en outs van de telefoon snel te begrijpen, je moet er echt een tijdje mee werken en zoeken hoe alles in elkaar zit. In mijn geval dan. Er staat gelukkig veel op het platform zodat ik veel dingen echt stap voor stap kan uitvoeren. Ik kan terecht met al mijn vele vragen en wil met name Ernad bedanken voor zijn uitgebreide hulp, ook aan de telefoon en zijn geduld!

Fijn om persoonlijke uitleg te krijgen

Op zich fijne telefoon waar ik heel erg blij mee ben. Toch kost het me, ondanks de goede uitleg, best wel tijd om e.e.a. onder de knie te krijgen. Ondanks dat heel erg blij mee en een aanrader voor iedereen die zich wil beschermen tegen big brother.
