Welcome to the Android privacy course! In this course we will teach you everything about creating the best possible privacy setup on your Android device. Not only do we endorse privacy, but this course is build around a couple of key values: privacy, open-source software, freedom of speech, and if possible: decentralization.

The first part of the course is focusing on the violation of our privacy and the definition of privacy itself. Why would you even want or need it? You will. In the course we will explain what the different implications will be for using different kind of apps. We will, for example, highly discourage you to use an app like Whatsapp or Facebook. But, if there’s really no other option (on another phone for example), we will still offer the option to use it in the most privately friendly way possible. And, on the other hand, we will still highly encourage you to get used to using alternatives.

I have an iPhone, can I still follow this course?

The first section of the course will be a general one, focusing on the privacy flaws we have on the internet in general. The rest of the course will be specifically for Android phone. The thing with iPhones is that the software is not as editable as much as Android, so there is a lot less you can do. What you can do, however, is purchase a cheap Android phone with great specs (like the Xiaomi Redmi Note 8 Pro). You can then rebuild this phone and use this one for the maximum amount of privacy. You then have a choice to make.

We at Android-Privacy.com we like the Xiaomi Redmi note 8/9, because of it’s great specs for a really low price. This low price mostly comes from all the bloatware that comes pre-installed on it, but we are going to get rid of that anyway 😉

I can just install a custom rom and then I'm done right?

No! This is a big mistake a lot of people make. Just installing a private rom will get rid of Google’s Android, but you’re still far away from the most privacy friendly setup (also see section 2 of the course).

How long is section 3?

Section 3 itself is 2 hours of video material. The rebuilding will probably take 3 hours for a more technical person and 4/5 hours for a less technical person.

How much time do I save?

Er werd ruim de tijd genomen om alles te installeren op de telefoon en al mijn vragen te beantwoorden. Niets is teveel, men heeft beschikking over ontzettend veel kennis en neemt de tijd om de materie duidelijk over te brengen. Ook nader tijd kan er altijd contact worden opgenomen mocht je ergens tegen aanlopen! Top! Ik ben erg tevreden!

Kennisoverdracht in een prettige sfeer

Ik ben 19/11/24 samen met mijn vrouw (we zijn geen techneuten met cijfermatige breinen) voor een consult – met name bijpraten Proprivacy laptop en telefoon die wij kochten – bij het jonge en groeiende bedrijf Proprivacy geweest. We troffen twee vriendelijke diepduikers in de computerwereld aan, die ons met veel know-how en in gewoon Nederlands goede uitleg aan nieuwe informatie hielpen. In een prettige sfeer! De Pro Privacy Phone bevalt goed, er waren geen problemen bij de overgang van de gewone smartphone naar die van Pro Privacy met alle veiligheidsvoordelen!!

De laptop gaat ook prima, we zijn met beide mogelijkheden ongelooflijk blij en voelen ons weer de mensen van weleer: het niet hoeven denken aan deze tijd met censuur- en aftap rondes van wie ook. Allerlei ‘weetjes’ werden nog aan ons kennisterrein toegevoegd. Dank jullie wel Ernad en Wesley!! draadje blijft liggen. (Henk)
